Welcome to The Authors Haunt Ghazal Project.  This is just one of the many ongoing Writing Projects here at The Authors Haunt.  These projects are open to all members and authors who want to try their hand at experimenting with a new style, format or theme, or to simply develop their existing skills.

This particular Project is for ghazal poetry.  A ghazal (pronounced like "guzzle") is a Turkish/Arabic poetic form consisting of five or more couplets with each line possessing an identical meter.  The first couplet normally rhymes and thereafter the last word, or couple of words, from the end of the second line of the first couplet is normally repeated at the end of the second line of each of the following couplets.  Each couplet should also be a complete sentence or series of sentences and should not continue into the next couplet.  For more information about the rules related to ghazal poetry, please review the "Participate" page.

All members and authors are invited to participate in this Writing Project.  If you think you would like to take part, please click on the "Participate" link in the banner above, where you will find the rules related to this Writing Project, links to information about ghazal poetry to help you understand this poetic form, and the submission form you are required to use when submitting your ghazals to The Authors Haunt.

A poem for lost love...

You looked like my "Dream-Boy" in the flesh. But you lacked the heart of its soul

Words from a heart that learned to move on...

The pain of rejection...

Waiting for one who may not return and one who is returning now...
