Whatever can go wrong does go
wrong when I’m around.
Every time I try to do something
nice, I screw it up.
Like the time I tried to make
you breakfast in bed and set fire to the kitchen;
Like the time I tried to run you
a nice bubble bath and flooded the house.
But you just smile in the face
of my disasters,
Unfazed by the catastrophes that
seem to follow me everywhere,
Giving me smiles to let me know
that none of it matters,
Giving me hugs to tell me you
appreciated the effort in spite of the result.
Every time I think I’ve screwed
things up beyond repair you
Reach for my hand, look into my
eyes and tell me "there’s no harm done".
Maybe I do screw things up from
time to time, but
Every time I look at you I know
there’s at least one thing I’ve done right.
